Special Edition Episode #8 – ‘Life As Girl Gamers Part 1′
Join U360 on a look into the lives of girl gamers with ‘Life As Girl Gamers Part 1′. I’m spreading this series out over perhaps 3 episodes in which I look at different levels of girl gamers within the community today.

Part 1 will detail the ‘casual’ girl gamer who isn’t involved in any group…be that GamerchiX, PMS Clan etc…they’re out there and some of them are closet gamers.
Well I thought this would be a lot of fun to hear different levels of girl gamers from one extreme to the other comment on gaming etc.
Take a seat…the ladies are in the house!

quite a few ladies involved in GamerchiX are set to join U360 for Part 2. should be a fun show

This is awesome that you’re allowing the chix to be heard. Trix has had an overwhelming response to the group. I think many people are seeing now that it’s not another PMS or Frag Dolls and it’s not about marketing T&A.
Can’t wait for part 2!

i hope this helps the GamerchiX get more of those ‘casual’ ladies involved.

Deacon,
I would like to nominate my wife StephanatorTGAC as an occasional girl gamer. She isn’t into FPS games but she does like platformers such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire or casual games such as Uno. What attracts her is not violence or adrenaline pumping type games but simple puzzle games or games in which you can grab a controller and play for a while. She plays to relax not to get all pumped up. On the other hand I play for the rush and the fact that I get to play with a lot of great people.
One game she was interested in that is coming out is Bomberman but since I have seen the screenshots I am concerned that they have taken out the cartoony party style of the game and made it into a techy-macho graphics intensive game. I am sure Steph will take one look at that and say that isn’t for me, even if the basic game play is the same. I think developers are just missing out on a whole market segment by not asking the average girl what they would like to see. Deacon you are asking the right questions. I just hope the development community is listening to your podcast!

you think she’d come on the show Ghost?? and thanks dude…i try to ask what the community talks about behind closed doors ya know..and the ‘average’ girl gamer is definitely a place untapped if you will.
and i hope developers are listening too.

I asked her to at the minimum to post comments in her own words but she might be persuaded to get on the show with you. She is very cool! She is a Music Therapist, a great Mom and besides being my Wife, she’s my best friend. If she will agree to being on the show I will make sure she is set in the studio. I just did a wole lot of rewiring of the network and so forth and so it’s a bit of a mess but that shouldn’t make a difference. At the very least if the studio isn’t ready maybe you can talk on the phone. Well we will just have to wait for her to chime in

It’s only appropriate for a musician to “chime” I suppose. Hiya, Deacon! I’m Ghostrider’s wife, and I have to say that the few podcasts I’ve overheard of your’s (like, I’m doing the dishes while Ghost is listening to you!) are pretty great. Although it sounds as if you’ve already dome the podcast where you talked to the “average” gamer girl, so I’m not sure what I’d have to say that would be any different. That being said….
Yup, I guess I’d consider myself a very casual gamer. Like Ghost mentioned, I play mostly Harry Potter and the occasional UNO game (does it put anyone else to sleep, or is it just me?). I used to love playing the old King’s Quest games, and I’ve had Ghost on the lookout for PC games of the same sort for years now. Seems like he trend for so long was the kind of game where you had to create a character, and I’m just not interested in that. Or one of the main parts of the game is to kill as much stuff as you can, and I don’t have much fun doing that either. I’ve watched Ghost play enough XBox games, and geez– in some of them you actually get achievements for sniper shots or number of enemies killed. I’d rather solve puzzles or play a game of cards, something much less violent.
Does that make me like a lot of other gamer girls out there? I don’t know. I’m not on Live to really see anyone besides who’s in Ghost’s friend list, and I’m only familiar with the gamertags he talks about most often. Guess you could say I don’t get out much.
Maybe somebody could give me directions to the gamer girls treehouse where they’re burning scented candles and have glitter and happiness???

[...] What better way to celebrate Mother’s Day than with flowers and a brand new Xbox 360 Elite?! One of my favorite Xbox.com personalities, Trixie, just released some details on the “My Mom’s a Gamer” contest. Excellent contest Trixie! You could win flowers to send your mom and an Xbox 360 Elite for writing a simple essay. For those of you who don’t remember, my mother was a guest on Episode #8! [...]
