You’ve probably seen some things going on with the site today.  I’ve been tweaking the code to add a few things to the site to hopefully make it more enjoyable when commenting and easier when browsing.  A few things I’m working on and should have finished soon…

-Quotes in comments - allows you to quote users when posting comments now (I’m pretty much done with this)
-Tags - Tag cloud for easier search/access to content (still work to do)
-Miscellaneous (Won’t tell just yet)

Also, make sure you head out to see a few new Showcases that surfaced this week!

For years we’ve heard ‘It’s in the Game’ from nearly every Electronic Arts game as well as commerical…and well that pitch is about to mean more than you think.

Electronic Arts has seemingly reached agreements with Massive Incorporated’s and IGA Worldwide’s video game advertising networks “in a move that will offer to marketers on a global basis new dynamic advertising opportunities”.

NFS Carbon

“Dynamic advertising opportunities in top EA titles represent an unprecedented marketing opportunity for advertisers to target the youth demographic in the most engaging medium,” said Mitchell Davis, Massive chief executive.

The first game to incorporate this new form of marketing is Need for Speed Carbon.

What say you?

Wow.  It’s almost scary just thinking about what I’m about to type and refer to but Major Nelson just posted a look into the Xbox Live Marketplace stats courtesy of the Xbox PR Team.  I’ll run down a few that were just crazy looking at.

-50 million downloads passed
-Over a million text/voice messages per day
-Over 2 billion Microsoft Points sold to date

If you do the math or allow me to do it for you, 2 billion comes to nearly $25 million in Microsoft Points!  Can someone say ‘Marketplace Successful’?

Well head over now to see the rest of the statistics.

Ain’t no party like a Showcase party ’cause a Showcase party don’t stop!  Gear up for another Unscripted 360 Showcase.

Tell us a bit about the guy sitting behind the Xbox 360.

Well I am 17 years old and I live in Puyallup, Washington.  I run cross country, I’m the commander of my JROTC, I am applying to West Point, and (like everyone and their brother) I love my Xbox 360.

You have a new blog and are also a writer for a website.  Tell the viewers about both.

I recently signed on as a writer for 360insider.net.  I’ve been working hard trying to keep the website updated with juicy information.  It’s been a very enjoyable experience, and it might even get me the ability to test Gears of War before release (I know, lucky huh?).

Mo’ money, mo’ Showcases.  Get your seat warm and head on in because he hunted me down just to get his story told…

Okay…you’re up and it’s time to shine.  Tell the world about yourself to begin with.

Hi, my names Todd, I’m 15 and my very first console was the SEGA Genesis.  I loved it especially the game Vectorman.  Ever since I’ve been playing, I still have my Genesis and it still works!  My other hobbies include driving my dirt bike, and ATV.

Any cool history behind your Gamertag?

Not really, my first gamertag was HummerMaxx, I didn’t really like it, so I made a new one I MX Rider I, with stands for Motocross Rider, I wish I could have had just MX Rider, but sadly it was taken.

How long has it been since you ‘Jumped In’ with the Xbox 360?

I pre-ordered my Xbox 360 from Sam’s Club and received it November 30th, 2005.

Is Dead Rising on course to sell over a million copies?  With recent news from Capcom that they’ve shipped over 500,000 copies of Dead Rising in just 2 weeks and the pending release in Europe, it sure looks that way.  Million-sold titles are rare believe it or not.  You may see your favorite game doing really well as far as public reaction is concerned but that title may have barely made the 500,000 sold threshold.

Dead Rising

So it got me thinking…which titles on the Xbox 360 have so far managed to generate over 1 million sold?  An article from Xbox.com’s John Gaudiosi on ‘The Numbers Game’ covering 2005 showed a few titles that are possibly now over a million sold like Madden NFL 06 and Call of Duty 2.  I’m sure Oblivion has reached that point as well.

How many others have crossed so far?

Fans of the smash RGP hit on Xbox 360 will be able to download this new addition to Oblivion from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 80 (.99 cents equivalent) Microsoft points on August 31.  The download will also be availabe at OblivionDownloads.com for PC users.
