Gears of War Viral Marketing?

That’s the growing news amongst the Gears of War fans on Epic Games’ message boards. Speculation has run rampant on a supposed message sent via Xbox Live from Marcus Fenix (MFenix as referenced in the story) to several Live members. Marcus Fenix ofcourse is the central character in the upcoming Xbox 360 game.

Epic Games’ own Mark Rein and Cliffy B have been seen posting about it so my hunch tells me there really is something to it.
Be on the lookout for a message from MFenix or any of the other host of characters from the game! Is this all a part of the BIG announcement that Mark has promised for next week? Who knows…but it sure is fun to speculate at this point on such a highly anticipated title.

I LOVE viral things like hex168 or especially ilovebees.com, which was more of an ARG, but this one kinda sucks cause barely anyone is actually getting the messages and being involved personally. It’ll be fun to watch it play out though, I’d just like a release date.

I’m hoping it’s something about a demo in august but that’s very doubtful. I’m figuring it’s a special super collectors crazy cozmo eighty dollar Edition. But hey, that’s just me who knows. On the viral marketing side of things, I’d hafta say I love it. Makes waiting for the game much more enjoyable.
